What happens after domain names expire?

Once a domain name expires, it goes through many stages before being released to the open market. Gransy s.r.o. sends three renewal emails to the domain name's holder contact prior to the expiration date. Below is a timeline based on all gTLD domain names.

Day 30We will send a first pre-expiration notice with instructions for renewal of the domain name with a standard fee.
Day 7We will send a second pre-expiration notice with instructions for renewal of the domain name with a standard fee.
Days after expirationAction
Day 1We will send a third, post-expiration notice with instructions for renewal of the domain name with a standard fee.
Day 32We will disable DNS resolution for this domain name. Domain can be renewed with a standard fee. We will add the domain name to an closeout expired domain name auction.
Day 40The last day you can renew domain for standard renewal fee before the domain is sent to redemptionPeriod.
Days 41 - 70Domain is already in redemptionPeriod. In order to renew it you have to pay Redemption price which is higher than a standard renewal fee.
Days 71 - 75Domain enters Pending_Delete period. There is nothing anyone can do to save this domain.
Day 76Domain is deleted and in the near future might be available for new registration.

Note: A registrant can renew an expired domain name at no extra cost up to day 40. What is your process for handling expired domain names?

The process we, the registrar, follow for expired domain names depends on your domain name extensions and their renewal settings. Prior to expiration, we will send 2 emails to remind you to renew your domain names.

If you set your domain names to automatic renewal, we will attempt to renew the registrations for you 7 days before expiration date. If we are unable to bill you, we will try every day until the expiration date. We will send you email with every unsuccessful renewal. If domain is still not possible to renew, we will park your expired domain names and will notify you via email again.

If you set your domain names to renew manually and let your domain names to expire, we will park your expired domain names and will notify you via email again the day after expiration.

For expired gTLD domain name registrations, we will hold your domain name for approximately 70 days before cancelling it. Domain name renewal during this period is subject to applicable renewal and redemption fees. For more information, see What happens after domain names expire? and Recovering Expired Domain Names.

Automatic Renewal

If you set the domain name to automatic renewal, when your domain name registration expires, we will take the following steps before canceling it:
